Astoria Resort: our A-history
This year, Astoria Resort turns twenty. In 2001, the Miorelli family bought the hotel and transformed it into a reference point for the world of hospitality on Lake Garda. Today, Astoria Resort is a multifunctional structure, ideal for couples, families and business guests.
Once upon a time, a long time ago… this is how the most beautiful fairy tales begin. After all, that of Astoria Resort is truly a fairy tale. And just like any fairy tale, Astoria’s history, or rather, our A-history, as we wanted to call it, is told in a great big book – the one that collects all the photos taken over the years, but also old brochures and messages left by guests who stayed in our rooms.
To begin, let's take a step back. Let's go back to 1970 when Antonio Miorelli, forefather of the family that nowadays manages Astoria Resort, decided to get into the hospitality sector. Antonio opened the first residence in Riva del Garda – these are important years, with Upper Garda preparing to become a popular destination for international tourists. The Miorelli family had already understood the importance of focusing on quality, working to offer its customers unique, exclusive experiences. The Miorelli family formula proved to be successful, so much so that it became a model for many structures in Garda Trentino that want to offer quality services.
In 2001, at the start of the new millennium, the Miorelli family decided to take up a new challenge: the group took over Astoria, a historic restaurant/hotel in Riva del Garda previously managed by the Brighenti family.Since its foundation, Astoria became well known for the high quality of its services, earning a place among the most popular facilities in the entire Garda Trentino area. In the Seventies and Eighties, Astoria was chosen by tourists from all over Europe – tourists interested in living their holidays not only as a relaxing experience, but also as an opportunity for discovery and enrichment.
In 2001, with the Miorelli family management, Astoria confirmed its mission, while continuing to grow and reinvent itself. In 2010, the structure was renewed becoming larger and more welcoming. A modern conference center was added to the original building. It was an opportunity to open up to a new type of user, to the world of business and events.Many famous people were hosted in our rooms - among all, we’d like to mention Eddy Merckx, a great cycling champion between the Sixties and Seventies, and the Bayern München Basketball team, hosted in 2018.
Over the years, Astoria Resort discovered another vocation – weddings. Thanks to Vanessa Miorelli's great passion for events, Astoria became one of the main players in the sector on Lake Garda and in Trentino. Our spacious park with outdoor swimming pool, but also our large internal spaces, make it the perfect location to celebrate weddings, anniversaries, christenings and first communions. However, the secret of our success lies in the care with which the Miorelli family and the Astoria Resort staff take care every single reception.
Our A-history does not end here! In 2018, the Miorelli Hotels group acquired MyLago - Garda Active Hotel, dedicated to fitness and active holiday lovers. At the same time, the GardaFoodie - I sapori di Casa Miorelli brand was launched, entering the food sector with high quality products from our territory. In addition to this, an idea for a truly exclusive holiday is coming thanks to Treelodgy, our brand new tree house surrounded by a large park!
